Basic Concepts

Concepts

There are several concepts in Bureau that may require explanation for new or returning users who may not be familiar with the terms.

Submissions

A submission is a collection of records (which can be a mixture of Credits, Debits and Direct Debit Instructions) that is validated and sent to BACS. In a Bureau Submission, a submission is split into multiple “Blocks” which can hold many “Records”. When a file is uploaded into Bureau it is represented as a “Block”.

The submission process once the Submission has been built is identical to the BACS submission process, but with some extra information presented to users that would not normally be available.

Bureau Customers

Bureau customers allow you to store details that will be used at a file/block level, you can give these a friendly name. These will be used in Jobs and in Bureau Builder submissions.

Jobs

A Job is used to create a BACS Bureau submission. They are useful when you need to process a regular bureau submission. You can have a set submission and run it whenever you want.

Job Details

A job detail/s are the lines that make up a job, these are composed of an optional Bureau customer, a file path (These can include wildcards and variables depended on the import schema), and an import schema.

Builder

A Bureau Builder or just builder is a BACS Bureau submission that you create on the fly, these are best used for ad-hoc Bureau submissions where the files/import schema is different or is irregularly ran.
