Bureau BACS Reports
Selecting the “Bureau BACS Reports” menu option from the Bureau->Reports menu will display the page shown below.
To download BACS reports you must enter some search criteria described below.
Select a Group
Only groups where you have the “Collect Reports” group role will be shown in this dropdown box.
You will see the message, “You don’t have permission to collect reports for any groups.” if you don’t have the Collect Reports” group role in any group.
Login to Vocalink
First you need to login to Vocalink in order to download reports.
NB. Vocalink process the submissions for BACS and Barclays faster payments.
Click “Login” to begin the login process.
Vocalink will send a login “challenge” which needs to be signed either with an HSM or a smartcard. The process is similar for either signing method.
If the selected group uses an HSM to sign a submission then an HSM will also be required to sign the login “challenge”.
Similarly, you will need to use a smartcard to sign the login “challenge” if a smartcard signs a submission.
Sign Login Challenge Using an HSM
A group can be configured so an HSM PIN needs to be entered as part of the signing process. Each user has their own HSM PIN which needs to be configured by the paygate administrator.
If a group doesn’t need the user to enter an HSM PIN, clicking the “Sign” button will sign the login challenge and log you into Vocalink.
If a group requires an HSM PIN, the following dialog is shown after clicking the “Send Submission” button.
The screenshot below is when a HSM is needed to sign the login “challenge” and when the user needs to enter an HSM PIN.
Sign Login Challenge Using a Smartcard with eSigner
This assumes you have installed eSigner by Gemalto which will have been provided by your bank. Click “Sign Submission” to display the eSigner signing window.
Click the “Sign” button to display a PIN entry window. The exact display will depend on your eSigner settings.
Now enter your smartcard PIN and click “OK”.
Sign Login Challenge Using a Smartcard with the paygate plugin
There are two versions of the paygate plugin, one for Internet Explorer and one which works with Chrome and Firefox. Clicking the “Sign Submission” button will display the submission data in a dialog window as shown below.
Clicking the “Sign” button will show the PIN entry dialog as shown below. NB. It can take a few seconds for the PIN entry dialog to appear.
Now enter your smartcard PIN and click “OK”.
Download Reports
When logged into Vocalink the screen changes as shown below.
NB. The “Login” button has changed to “Log Off” and the padlock icon is closed along with the message confirming that you are “Securely logged into Vocalink”.
Click the “Vocalink Certificate” button to show details of the certificate at Vocalink.
Bureau Customers
After successfully logging into the BACS reports service select the Bureau Customers you wish to download reports for. The reports retrieved are returned for the matching SUN of the customer.
Report Types
After successfully logging into the BACS reports service select the type of report you wish to download.
Report Age
Select how old you wish any reports should be. The oldest is 1 month while the newest are todays reports only.
Previously Accessed
You can choose to only download reports which have or haven’t previously been downloaded.
Get Report List
After entering your search criteria, click the “Get Report List” button to view any available reports which meet your search criteria. An example is shown below.
Click the “Options” button and select “XML” to view the XML of the selected report:

You can selected one or more of the reports in the grid for download in either XML or HTML format.
Clicking the “Download” button zips up the selected files and allows you to select where the zip file should be saved.
Save BACS Report Download Preferences
When you have retrieved a report list, paygate will save your search criteria. The next time you want to download Bureau BACS reports, the last group you used will be selected by default. After logging into Vocalink the search criteria will be pre-selected showing the last selections.
Bureau Customer Reports
The “Bureau Customer Reports” page allows the user to check which customers are assigned against jobs. By default, the search is across all available bureau customers and can be sorted filtered based on Customer Name, Job Name, Job Group, Service User Number, Filename, Bank Reference, Sort Code and Account Number (pictured below):
The “Search Type” dropdown can be expanded to allow additional filtering (pictured below):
Selecting the “Advanced” search type, allows some additional filtering based on Jobs, Customers and Groups.
