Panning
Mappings can be larger than the available screen space. Some nodes have a lot of inputs or outputs and may not easily fit on the screen. You can quickly and easily pan around the design surface by right-clicking on the diagram background. While holding down the right-hand button, move the mouse to pan around.
Reset the screen position after panning.
Using the menu, click ‘Mapping’ and then select ‘Move to Origin’.
Clear the mapping
You may wish to clear the mapping of all nodes and start again. To clear the mapping choose ‘Mapping’ from the main menu and click ‘Clear’.
Selecting and Unselecting objects
Selecting single items
To select a node click on the header bar at the top of the node. The node will become surrounded with a thick outline to show it is selected.
Like nodes, you can also select the links between nodes by clicking them. The link colour will darken to show that it has become selected.
Selecting multiple items
1) You can also select one or more items in a diagram by using the rubber band tool. click and hold down the left mouse button. Drag the mouse to start drawing the rubber band. When you let go of the mouse button, any items totally within the rubber band area will be selected.
2) You can also select multiple objects at the same time by holding down the CTRL key and selecting multiple objects
Unselecting Items
You can also unselect objects in two ways: - click a blank area of the design surface. - press escape
Removing selected items.
To remove either a node or link from the mapping diagram, select the item or items you wish to remove and click the ‘x’ icon in the toolbar.
Clipboard
The designer includes fully clipboard functionality. Cut, Copy and Paste can be found in the ‘Edit’ menu.
Undo / Redo
Undo and Redo functionality is included in the mapping designer. Undo and Redo can be access in two ways:
- From the menu Bar in the ‘Edit’ menu.
- From the toolbar buttons.
Saving a Mapping
You can save you mapping to the Paygate server open the ‘File’ menu and click Save. If this is the first time you have saved this diagram a popup will display asking for the name of the mapping. Choose the name carefully as this name will be used in different parts of Paygate.
Note: The name of the mapping must be unique for your organisation.
If you choose to save a previously saved mapping then you won;t get prompted for a name.
TIP: You can use the autosave feature to automatically save the mapping as you make changes to it.
Loading a previously saved mapping
To load a previously saved mapping from within the designer, open the ‘File’ menu and select ‘Load’. You will be prompted to choose the mapping to load from a list of all available mapping that Paygate has stored.

Most nodes have a help page that provide more information on how the node functions and how to use it in a mapping. Click the small, round button marked ‘?’ to open the help documentation at the correct page.
